The Portland Salmon Fishing on the Willamette river saw a very good season even with a lower than normal forecast of only 40 thousand Spring Salmon. Most of the fish we saw were from the end of March thru the first week of May.
During this time we were blessed with great weather which ment very good fishing conditions. We hooked Salmon everyday we fished, although some days we didn’t have to work has hard to get fish in the boat. We spent the entire season on the lower part of the Columbia trolling herring, as it continued to be productive for us day after day.
The added benefit of fishing in the lower Columbia is that we never had to deal with the hungry sea lions eating our fish and it was seldom that even saw one.
Our focus is now shifting from Portland Salmon Fishing to the Tillamook area. We are looking forward to som great late Spring and Early Summer runs and chasing these salmon throughout the Tillamook Bay area. Don’t miss out on some of the best eating fish in the entire Pacific Northwest.
We will be fishing Spring Chinook Salmon in Tillamook bay and the ocean thru June so make sure to call us and get on the calendar. There are still a few prime dates to choose from.
Also, it’s never too early to think about booking for spring Chinook Salmon on the Columbia river and Willamette river for 2020! According to the experts the Spring Salmon runs will start getting stronger in 2020 here in the Pacific Northwest. It’s going to be an exciting time!
Thank all of you who came fishing with me this Spring in the Portland area. We will surely be back next spring for more great Portland Salmon Fishing.
