We are very blessed in Garibaldi Oregon to have an amazing bottom fishery out of Tillamook bay up and down the coast. We travel as far north to Cannon beach which is a 15 to 20 mile run depending and what reef or rock pile we are planning to fish on. If we decide to travel south we have a few options from 8 miles to 15 miles. Both of those locations have great fishing just like the Cannon beach area. One spot is off Netarts bay which is called three Arches and the other is around Cape Lookout. We have many great places out of Garibaldi to bottom fish and did i mention the scenery it is flat out amazing with big giant towering cliffs jetting out of the lush green forrest.
Bottom fishing is one of the most popular type of Ocean fishing in Oregon. The fish sit on fairly shallow structure and there are many different species to catch.
We typically will fish within a mile of the marina we launch from and are fishing withing 20-30 minutes from leaving the docks.
We typically use jigs which is a very fun and active way to fish. The advantage to jigs is that there is typically no doubt that you have a fish on the line as they are biting the jig in a very aggressive manner,
We catch Black Cod, Sea Bass, Quill Back, Ling Cod and many other species of fish.
